How can mentoring help a leader’s development?
Throughout history, writers and academics have sought for the true definition of Leadership. And still the argument rages on.
Why? Quite simply because society is forever changing, evolving, reacting to events, to revolutions in technology, education and communications.
So, if society – and that means you – is always changing, the qualities, skills and actions of leaders have to adapt as well, to the needs and expectations of those who follow them.
Born leaders are such a rare commodity. Taking on your first leadership position is not as easy as you may think. You need to make your mark early and it’s so easy to make the wrong mark, to get off on the wrong foot. Not surprising if nobody has helped you on the way.
So, having an experienced mentor, someone who’s been there and made those mistakes, kind of makes sense.
Doesn’t it?
